Welcome to Pre-algebra
Here we go! It will be a fast, fun and challenging year, and I am thrilled to have the chance to guide you in your exploration of pre-algebra concepts. We will be working with proportions, fractions, percents, decimals, functions, solving equations and inequalities, geometry, and much much more! Don't worry. My goal is your confidence. Success in math in all about confidence. I will make every effort to provide a safe, fun, and collaborative learning space where each student can find a deeper understanding of math and how it relates to real world situations. The math you learn in pre-algebra is problem solving math, the kind of math you will use countless times in your life in your profession, as a consumer, home owner, parent, etc. Learn it now. Learn it well. I will be your guide. Let's go!
About me
I grew up in Santa Clara, California, graduated as a valedictorian of Santa Clara High, and went on to attend college at UC Berkeley. Go bears! Those of you who are "Stanfurd" fans will be happy to know that my husband graduated from my rival school, and we will likely fight over where our daughter should go for years to come.
After graduating, I spent 6 years working for Redwood as a classroom aide before attending credentialing classes at San Jose State University and receiving a multiple subject credential and later a credential in foundational mathematics. I taught second grade for 2 years in San Jose, and then returned to Redwood to teach 6th and 7th grade math. This will be my 4th year teaching math at Redwood. I am returning after a two year leave to raise my little girl. Teaching my daughter has been an amazing experience, but I miss working with middle school students. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to teach my students. Each year has produced lasting memories and strong bonds with my students and their parents. I'm happy to be back, and I look forward to meeting you this year! |
